Dear John… Mayer,

You did a great job last night. I have to admit, I don’t like your music. In fact, I have always hated it. But last night, you won me over.

You did a good job playing with the Grateful Dead and I’m really proud of you for doing that show at MSG, it was a good time. I really, had a good time. You played those notes just so god danm well. I was really impressed. And the crowd was into it too. I saw them, beyond the clouds of fog and weed, and streaming lights.

You knew all the songs and every chord was stroked and plucked with eloquent precision, with some seriously engaged body and lip language. I imagine you have played these songs a lot, and I am happy for you and was last night too.

So, just wanted to say, thanks for the good time, and maybe I’ll see you again soon.
