Ah, Grim Streaker. Much like the grim reaper, but perhaps a little more scandalous.
These Brooklyn punks are fresh off the release of their debut LP No Vision, and chock full of energy. Their music is an explosion of sharp, post-punk sound and this interview is equally fiery.
A few important take aways: Apparently, not everyone likes pamplemousse wine coolers. Also, toilet paper makes excellent ear plugs. Ingenuity is the spice of life, folks.

Some Questions With Grim Streaker
What are practices generally like? Are there any routines or rituals?
Amelia: Micah sends a group text “can someone pick up beer”....if no one picks up beers we are stuck with Micah's choice of pamplemousse wine coolers. Then we wait 45 minutes for Dan to set up his guitar pedals. Bill starts playing the Jurassic Park theme song on the bass and that’s how we know we’re getting closer to starting. Toilet paper goes in the ears and we “run the set real quick.”
How did you all meet?
Micah: Bill and I direct and shoot music videos for other Brooklyn artists. We were working on a video for local band Dinowalrus, which Dan also played in. We all started talking on set about writing some punk songs together. Dan was in another band with Piyal before and asked him to play drums. Amelia showed up to "audition" vocals and it all clicked. We wrote our first single "Guts" in that initial rehearsal.
If you could bottle the smell of one of your live performances what would it smell like?
Amelia: Crushed up Adderall.
What was the journey like creating your debut album “No Vision”. Was the process different/similar to when you were working on your previous EP’s/Singles?
Amelia: It was over a year in the making. There’s a lot more to the messages we’re conveying. I dug a lot deeper with the emotions and stories that I tell through my lyrics. And compositionally, the album has a cohesive and meticulously written tone. There’s strong intent to every note and flare instrumentally. What you might think is a mistake is more purposeful than ever.
Are you a dog person or a cat person or neither?
Amelia: Def a dog person. Def not a cat person.
Did you ever have a dog/cat? Did you get along with them?
Amelia: Yeah dogs. One hated me, one was neutral towards me. None loved me.
What is the best drinking game to play with people? (have you ever invented one?)
Micah: There should probably be a Grim Streaker drinking game. Maybe every time Amelia tries to strangle us with her mic cable on stage...drink.
If you could tour with any band in the world who would it be? Why?
Micah: Right now I think it would probably be a band like Amyl and The Sniffers. Love their energy and attitude. Our live shows would work well together.
What was the most fun you ever had during a live show?
Micah: We played our biggest stage yet during SXSW last March at the Scoot Inn in Austin. Shared the bill with Charly Bliss and ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead.
Do you have a favorite venue to play? What about it makes it your favorite?
Amelia: Alphaville in Bushwick because we live there.
