Would you rather…

only be able to communicate with Morse code or dolphin noises?

Some questions with John Roseboro

Thanks so much for putting this together with us. Welcome to the blog. Can you tell us a little about yourself?

My name is John Roseboro. I live in Brooklyn, NY and work in music and art to communicate God's heart.

Who is your favorite one hit wonder?

Chamillionaire never sold his soul and still made 50Ms. Look it up.

You recently released your single ‘Gethsemane’ How do you feel about the reception so far?

I was overseas booking and managing a European tour from a phone that only works with wifi when I dropped Gethsemane without PR, money, or marketing.  Still, the song is strengthening peoples relationships with themselves and those around them. Tens of thousands of streams cross platforms and sold out merch of the cover art is encouraging too.

What was it like putting together the accompanying music video for ‘Gethsemane’?

Katie Oliver and I were at a party in The Hamptons and had the idea to film a one take video around sunrise. I went to sleep, but she stood up all night. Around 4AM we improvised the video. She recorded it on some old camcorder from the early early 2000s.

How do you see your relationship with writing lyrics?

I take the lyrics more seriously than the music. If you take care of the lyrics, they'll take care of you.

What would you choose for your entrance music if you were a WWE wrestler?

Clair de Lune

Where did you grow up? Did it shape the music you are making today?

My family is from New York, but my mother was a nurse in the Air Force, so we moved every 5 minutes. I'm not from anywhere, but I developed my style while living with the Amish. I was the only one on the farm that played music. I would play the basslines, rhythms, harmonies, and dissonances while singing for them, this eventually became post-bossa.

What do you like best about making music in NYC?

NYC is the only city in the world. I'm here for the people.

If you could only wear one color for the rest of your life what would it be and why?

White, because I have nothing to fear.

Any final comments? (This is your electronic soapbox for one last answer.)

I appreciate you. Please keep sharing the music with good souled people. New song "I Took The L" drops next week.
