Street Dreams is the first official EP for musclecars–a Brooklyn based producer/DJ collaborative made up of Brandon Weems and Craig Hadfield. This quick 4-song EP transported me into a sweaty crowd at MoMa PS1 or in the dark confines of a Bushwick DIY bar. I particularly loved “Sol” which reminded me of an electronic version of “Soul Sacrifice” by Santana. If you’re looking for a classic summer in the city type of vibe, put this EP on repeat.

“Street Dreams” by, muscle cars has an eclectic sound with spectacular pacing. Great electronic music will not exhaust you. Great electronic music will not feel rigid. “Street Dreams” flows with ease from one track to another. There is not one point where I feel it drags or is extraneous. Even when playing within the framework of the track they show restraint only keeping in the best bits. These things make “Street Dreams” a sublime experience. Ride your bike to the beach, have a beer, and relax.

Sun Track I : Pretty meditative. I would like to listen to this song while riding my bike while the sun is rising.

The Man Who Kept Bedstuy Warm: You know how old school radios would have that wave that would move in tune with the song playing? I like thinking about that. Totally a good vibe.

Sol: I would love to dance to this. This is a song that I will keep on my Spotify playlist.

Sun Track II (for black healing): Did you notice that the only vocals were happily humming the same eight octaves?

Sol - Edit: Its the same song.

In case you ever wondered what a beachfront nightclub would sound like should it actually be located in lower Manhattan or in a trendier part of Brooklyn, Muscle Cars’ EP “Street Dreams” is probably the answer. There’s an almost downtempo Miami Vice aesthetic evoked by this short run of an EP that’s at once deeply calming and surprisingly still pretty energetic. The perfect soundscape for watching a sunrise over crashing waves from a high rise. If I could dance, I’d like to dance to something like this.
