Meet The Shacks

Love Shacks baby we love the shacks. Famous B-52’s tracks this band is all kinds of magical. Each track is the most gorgeous bittersweet thing you have ever heard until you hear the next track from them. They have been slinging out tunes since early 2016, and now on Big Crown Records, they continue to do the same into the 2020s.

Get to know them below as we talk about all kinds of neat things.

A CHARMING STORY WITH A HAPPY ENDING: A Mad Lib by The Shacks

Although he was Emperor of France, Napoleon Bonaparte was actually a Corsican, born on a small HOLIDAY in the Mediterranean Sea. When he was just ten years old, Napoleon was sent to a military EEL in France, where his TRASHY stature earned him the nickname of "The GLORIOUS Corporal." At 24, he was made a FAIR General and married Josephine, the daughter of a THE TWIST. Soon after that, he defeated the Italians at PIZZA and in 1804 was proclaimed Emperor of all the PERFUMES. But he made a TENSE mistake and attacked Russia. He reached Moscow, but the ANIMALS had burned all their COLLAGES and his men got frozen GUITAR SOUNDS. In 1914, he was EATEN and sent to Elba. But a year later, he came back to France and for 100 days was again the RAT CATCHER. However, he was defeated at Waterloo and imprisoned on the island of St. Helena, an ABSTRACT place that resembled NAPOLI.

Would You Rather

have to perform a cover of the cha-cha slide, the macarena, or cotton eye joe? How would you do it?

Cotton Eye Joe. I would make all the chords minor and make the song very slow, like a pirate’s dirge.

Some questions with The Shacks

What are your top five favorite animals?

Narwhal, black buck, grizzly bear, red fox, sheep.

What was it like having your music in an iPhone commercial?

Fun but slightly dystopian.

If you could bottle the smell of one of your live performances what would it smell like?

Gardenia and marijuana.

How did you guys meet and what led you to start a band?

We met in high school and immediately started playing music together. It was very natural.

What was the most fun you had during a live performance?

Too many to pick one!

What do you hope listeners take from your music?

I hope that they are able to put on headphones and ride the song like a raft on a river.

If you could rename New York City what would you call it?

Girtensçhīctænnåmîœhës

How has your sound evolved since the band’s initial inception?

We have moved in the direction of a more simple “live band” sound, rather than an abstract production based basis for our tracks.
