The Weep have been meandering the NYC alternative scene since 2008. Their sound is hard to pinpoint or narrow down to a single adjective, however, for me, they’re almost reminiscent of the Goo Goo Dolls if they released a full-length album of B Sides. I think the Goo freaking rock by the way (and I’m not being sarcastic...promise). Too Much Nothing is Weep’s first true full-length original album since 2015, although they released an album of covers back in May. I’d recommend this album to those itching for a little late 90s nostalgia and those who appreciate clean, straightforward indie rock. Some standouts for me included the title track “Too Much Nothing”, “Sophie Said”, and “The Rope”.

I honestly don’t know if I would put this on for myself, but the intricate bass lines and well-produced, confident tracks stood out to me on this EP. It’s evident that The Weep have solidified their sound and understand their audience. The middle of the album was more memorable for me, especially “The Rope” and “Please Say It’s Over.” I lost a little bit of interest towards the end and felt that the tracks were getting monotonous, but overall I’d say this is a solid rock album. They’re obviously incredibly talented musicians and the craftsmanship is clear throughout the tracks.
