Helado Negro | Running (Single)

It’s time for some innovation, people. We need to spice things up! Give me some cosmic noises, some synth, some folk — blend it all up and serve it on the rocks! Let’s see what happens.

Enter Roberto Carlos Lange, a.k.a. Helado Negro, a.k.a. just what the doctor ordered. This Brooklyn based Latin artist draws on his roots and the spirit of collaboration to create some unique and personal bedroom pop tunes. What did the family think of his most recent release?

This I How you Smile by Helado Negro strikes me as a unique combination of folk and experimental with a Latin flare thrown in. The lyrics and vocals were beautiful and totally worked with the instrumentals. Not a high energy song but I appreciate that as well. I give this a

Interesting track the vocals blend nicely, I like the piano, but I believe that  if they had a killer bass run in it, the track would be a fun trip. Would it be fair to say that this is a good start in the right direction, however I would have liked to have seen it developed further?

This is a track that does not mess around. I am always a fan of a more streamlined production. I don’t need all these bells and whistles flying out at me. Just give me a steady drum beat, and some swelling vocals and I am happy as a clam. The music video of all the running gave me a bit of anxiety, but that quickly left with each passing moment the song was doing it’s thing.
